Indo Day!

OMG!
San Fran was unbelievable. I loved every second I was there from the moment I got off the plane ’til the moment….I entered the Oakland airport. Haha. It was so sad to leave!
But anyways! It was a great show. I personally believe that it was one of the best shows I’ve ever had…besides my concert, of course. That was the best, but this one is pretty high on the list.
I was really nervous when I first saw the stage the day before the festival. It was right in the heart of San Fran. I mean, literally, smack in the middle of downtown. Haha. Union Square was already bustling with people even without the festival, so I couldn’t imagine how many people would be there WITH the festival. Plus, there was a huge glass Macy’s store facing the stage, with people sipping coffees next to the windows because each floor had a cafe. That was really nerve wrecking for me.
But, to get my nerve levels down, my dancers and I went shopping! Haha. Window shopping, that is. With the economy so down like this, that’s all anyone can really afford to do, right? So, we just walked around and the awesome Amron, festival coordinator and creator, gave us a whole tour of downtown. There were so many stores and cute little places….it was all so much to take in…I’m not even gonna try and describe how fantastic the place was because that would be an epic fail. Hahaha. That’s why I took a whole bunch of pictures and videos, which will be posted!
I think the highlight of that day, though, was this group of people who were giving out free hugs. I mean, they were sooooo great. There were two people with megaphones advertising free hugs and there were other people holding up signs that said…”FREE HUGS!” Of course I had to have one, and it was one of the best hugs ever! Haha. Me and my dancers even started a huge group hug. It was pretty intense…really…I wish I got a video of the group hug because there are really no words for it.
The next day was performance day, so I had to get up at, like 7 AM for sound check. I know that seven isn’t actually too early, but when you stay up until two in the morning because you’re too amazed with the city, it really is.
Sound check was pretty hectic and unorganized…actually, the whole festival was, but isn’t that what show business is all about? I mean, where do you think all the excitement comes from? Haha. But everything pulled together for the show. The festival was a success with hundreds of people showing up to watch the awesome performances and eat the wonderful Indonesian food that was offered.
And….I think….people liked MY performance. Haha. I noticed a lot of people stopped to watch my act, probably because it was…different. Usually, the Indo Day Festival has cultural dances and Indonesian songs and whatnot. Well, my performance was more like a concert. I sang pop songs and I had dancers and…I’m young. I brought in a lot of kids, I think. Haha. My favorite part of my performance was when I sang When I’m 18 (the last song) because people were going crazy for the “Meeghan” t-shirts being thrown out into the audience. It was awesome.
And, afterwards, I stayed at a booth and signed autographs. It was great. I signed posters, CDs, and even some of the shirts. I was so happy. This is, again, why I want to be a performer. It makes me happy making others happy. Haha.
After the show was over, I just went sightseeing. Like a normal person, I had my camera in my hand every second. Haha. We went to the Golden Gate Bridge and took tons of pictures. It’s too much to write, so just look at all the pics. IDK when I’ll be able to post them on my website, but you can look at everything on my Facebook page!

Oh! I almost forgot! I’d really like to thank my amazing dancers, too! They’ve supported me throughout my career and I’m so fortunate to have such a loving and talented dance crew. And in San Fran, they were so great. When I watched the video of the performance, they were all right on the beat and….it was just perfect. LOL.
And thank you to all of those who came and made the show the success that it was. It was awesome being able to perform for everyone and especially in San Francisco. Hopefully, I’ll get to go back and do it again =)
Love,
Meeghan
